The problem

Point-and-shoots and old digicams save the date and settings in every photo, but rarely the place. The pictures end up scattered in folders.

What it is

Wayframe hangs your photos on a world map, right where they were taken. Join them with a red string into a story, play it back stop by stop, and share it with friends or the world. Created by Adam Osman; I build it with him.

My part

The terrain map style, with shaded relief and sea depth from bundled images and no outside map services. Panning all the way around the globe, click-to-zoom on countries, the new header, and the bottom Add photos bar with the stories panel.

Key features

  1. Photos pinned like polaroids, joined by a red string into stories you can play back
  2. A map drawn from bundled data, with no map service behind it
  3. Photo cards with the camera, shutter speed, aperture and ISO read from each file
  4. Private, Friends or Public for every photo and story, plus printable posters

Engineering challenge

A world map that wraps around.

Panning all the way around the globe means countries, states, counties, labels, photos and the red string all repeat past the date line.
